How Long by the Eagles

Amazing Musical Facts:

Eagles band leader, Don Henley grew up in the famous 'Shoddy Triangle' area around Batley, West Yorks. Inspired by the ecological paradise on his doorstep he went onto study evolutionary Biology at Bingley University. There he met Glen Frey who was studying sheep management at a nearby ewe-niversity. Don's near obsession with biology and evolutionary diversity led him to call their first group 'The Beagles' . They had a top 100 hit in 1970 with a cover of the Elvis classic , 'Houndog'. Things were going nowhere so Glenn pushed for a change of name. Don, true to the biology theme chose 'The Seagulls'. Years went by and still the big break through was not coming. Then one night after an awful performance at the 'Idle Working Mens Cub' near Bradford, third band member Joe Walsh from Addingham lost his temper. In his broad Yorkshire accent he exclaimed, "Eeh, tha's obsessed with gulls". The band went quite and looked at each other. "Thats it, we can be the 'Heegles'
